This is a reference guide concerning how to check out/return books at the library of the Research Center for Ars Vivendi?iRoom 416 at Soshikan Building?j.
How to Check Out Books
Faculty members of the Research Center for Ars Vivendi, and students of the Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences, and the Graduate School of Science for Human Services can check out books at the library of the Research Center for Ars Vivendi. However, books with the label of ?g?֑яo?h (which means ?gfor reference only?h in English) cannot be checked out (they can read those books at the library, Room 416).
The books at the library consist of books purchased by the Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences, books provided by the Institute of Human Sciences, and books of some faculty members–Tateiwa, Matsubara and Sato. Users are asked to pay careful attention to the books.
Procedure for Checking Out Books
1. You pick up a slab (or slabs). | You are asked to pick up a slab (or slabs) which is (are) placed on the shelf F5. You need to pick up one slab per book. Please also make sure that a white label is on the slab so that you can write a book title, author?fs name etc. |

2. You look for a book (or books) you would like to check out. | Please look for a book (or books) you would like to check out. |
3. You replace the book (or books) with the slab (or slabs). | After indicating a book title (or titles) and author?fs name (or names) on the white label (or labels) of the slab (or slabs), please replace the book (or books) with the slab (or slabs). |
4. You write necessary information in a check-out notebook. | There is a check-out notebook on the desk of the reception. After filling in your name, affiliation, the author?fs name, book title, check-out day, and presumed return day, you are asked to confirm with post-doctoral fellow or research assistant(s) who stay(s) at the library. Since places to be filled in the notebook vary according to which Graduate School you belong to, please be careful. |
How to Return Books
Basically our library does not have the due date of books. However, if another person would like to check out the same book, please return the book promptly.
Procedure for Returning Books
1. You look for the slab (or slabs). | Please look for the slab (or slabs) you replaced at the time of checking out the book (or books). |

2. You replace the slab (or slabs) with the book (or books). | Please replace the slab (or slabs) with the book (or books). |
3. You write necessary information in a check-out notebook. | After you indicate the return day in the notebook, you are asked to confirm with post-doctoral fellow or research assistant(s) who stay(s) at the library. |
4. You return the slab (or slabs). | After removing the label (or labels) from the slab (or slabs), please return the slab (or slabs) to the shelf F5. |
