Disaster/Life: Ars Vivendi as the Great Earthquake

published: 2012-12-13

Event Overview

leaflet download (PDF, 2.14MB)It is after 16 years of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995 that the Great East Japan Earthquake struck. The great earthquake produces not only a lot of “death” but “the art of living”(i.e., ars vivendi) against it. “Life” in the great earthquake is actually the process of life of people who are between nature and society and, at the same time, the field in which wisdom and technique which enable people to live under disaster are produced.

In this symposium we will consider both the process of life of people who live as minorities and the art of living people with disabilities or illness produce through research on foreign people and people with disabilities under the great earthquake.
